Tips for the perfect tablecloth

Measurements made easy

For the perfect fit

Here's how: for rectangular or oval tablecloths, simply specify the dimensions and shape. For a perfect fit, we recommend an overhang of 25-30 cm on each side. We will take possible after-wash shrinkage into account when producing the tablecloth.

Measure the length of the table and add on the required overhang on each side.
Measure the width and the length of the table and add on the required overhang on each side.
Measure the diameter of the table and add on the required overhang on each side.

Care tips

Looking after your tablecloth

We select the highest quality weaving, dying and finishing processes so that you can enjoy your tablecloth for years to come. Ultimately, ease of care, colour fastness and form stability are not just nice words – they have been our goal for 150 years.

Our products are labelled with individual care instructions written with the specific materials in mind. Please always follow the individual symbols.

Washing and detergent

  • When washing coloured table linen, only use colour detergent with no optical brighteners (all-purpose detergents contain optical brighteners). During the washing process, these chemical substances are absorbed into the fibres and permanently change the colour of coloured fabric, causing the colours to lose their brilliance.
  • Ensure that you use the correct washing temperature and follow the washing machine loading instructions. A load which is not quite full is gentler on the fabric, increases its service life and reduces wrinkles.
  • During their first wash, textile fabrics naturally shrink by approximately 3 to 5 percent. A 60°C wash usually sufficiently removes stains when using modern laundry detergents. Unless otherwise indicated on the label, hot washes are also possible for coloured items, but are only recommended in the event of stubborn stains as they are not as gentle on the fabric.
  • Please note that fabric may shrink more during a hot wash than during a standard 60°C wash.
  • Always wash fabrics blended with polyester using a gentle cycle to avoid creasing.

Stain removal

  • It is very important not to let stains dry for too long.
  • Pre-treat stubborn stains (e.g. with liquid soap and by leaving to soak).

Wipe-clean

  • Wipe spills away immediately with a damp sponge. Consider using a little washing-up liquid if required.
  • Wipe-clean fabric should also be washed at regular intervals (depending on the amount of soiling). Please always wash on a 40°C gentle cycle and only spin gently.
  • After every wash, iron the tablecloth on the reverse side only to reactivate the stain-resistant coating.
  • Please note: strong solvents such as acetone, chlorine and materials containing solvents (felt-tip pens, glue) may damage the coating.

Iron-free

  • Wash at 60°C on the gentle cycle.
  • Use a short spin cycle if required.
  • Quickly take the fabric out of the washing machine and reshape it while still wet.
  • Hang up the tablecloth flat.
  • Alternatively, you can also dry the tablecloth in the tumble dryer (at a low temperature).

Stain-protected

  • The advantage: liquids drip off and stains can be easily wiped away.
  • Our care recommendation: dab liquids; carefully remove solid substances, do not rub.
  • Easy-care laundry.
  • Please note: stain removers and fabric softeners affect the stain protection.
  • After every wash, iron the tablecloth to reactivate the stain-resistant coating.

Outdoor

  • Excellent non-fade properties
  • Stain and dirt repellent, mould resistant
  • Liquids are repelled and stains wash out easily
  • Dab off liquids; carefully remove solid stain substances, do not rub them in
